The vision and philosophy of my counselling work is to provide emotionally corrective experiences for individuals and groups, through the establishment of an empathically attuned therapeutic relationship. In so doing, it is my hope that people, who are struggling with all manner of issues, will become empowered by a renewed sense of connection with their bodies and minds, and begin to feel a sense of control and mastery in their own lives.

    Background

I am a qualified Social Worker with over 20 years experience as a Counsellor and Group Therapist. I have worked in both the public and private sectors, as well as for a number of NGO's. The vast majority of my work life has been spent in the areas of Adult and Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and in the Drug and Alcohol treatment fields. As a result, I have developed a deep understanding of the relationship between negative early life experiences and the effects of trauma on the body and mind. This interest, and a desire to help people overcome the effects of trauma, has led me to invest a great deal of time in developing an indepth understanding and working knowledge of trauma and the most effective ways to treat it.
