Philosophy & Vision
My style of therapy is very much based on establishing a relationship of trust so the client can discuss their inner thoughts and feelings as well as their actual experiences both past and present.
For many clients this may be the first time in their lives that they have revealed these things to another person. Together we can begin to look at some of the painful issues and find ways to move forward more constructively.
Background
I have been in private practice for 38 years. I have also worked for the Marriage Guidance Council (now Relationships Australia), in Drug and Alcohol Counselling and as a research Assistant on a study looking at childhood bereavement.
Services
I see people for short or long term psychotherapy depending on their needs. I see both adults and children for individual therapy and also couples or families. While my original training is psychoanalytic my aim is very much to focus on how people can improve their lives now - not just understand the past.
Quality Provision
I am registered in NSW. I am a member of the Australian Psychological Society, the NSW Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and of the Australian Association for Infant Mental Health. I attend regular peer support meetings and professional conferences.

Therapy Approach
My goal is to help the client come to understand the underlying causes of problems and look at ways to resolve these problems in the present. Clients may want to deal with: depression, anxiety, failing relationships, trauma, fears, past abuse, bereavement, difficulties at work or school, or failure to reach one's potential. With adults this process is verbal whereas with children it is important that they are able to also express themselves through play.
