One day Workshop in Parramatta Sydney for Psychologists, Counsellors and Social Workers. FRIDAY 4 APRIL Presented by Angelique Foran, Kimberley O'Brien, & Ruth Fordyce.
Angelique Foran is a Clinical Psychologist with over 17 years experience, who combines her private practice work in Adelaide with her on-line business Therapy Tools. Angelique’s special interest is in helping anxious children and teens and she has now helped hundreds of children and teens manage their fears and worries. As a clinical psychologist she assists children, adolescents and their families with a wide range of issues including sleep, depression, personal problems, grief and loss, behavioural challenges, coping with a parent with a mental illness and divorce and separation.
Therapy Tools was born from a desire to provide therapists, psychologists and counsellors with access to the very best therapy resources from Australia and across the globe. The business is committed to providing games, books and accessories to help professionals with therapy.
In this presentation ‘How to avoid Death by Worksheet’ Angelique will cover ways to integrate games, apps and other resources as well as the occasional worksheet to help you work more effectively with reluctant patients. Evidence-based therapy for anxiety, anger management and other common childhood problems will be discussed. Expect a presentation where you will find ideas to add to your therapy repertoire that children will love (and ask to do again!).
Kimberley O’Brien is one of Australia’s most trusted and recognized Child Psychologists with a knack for solving issues from the child’s perspective.
With 15 years’ experience working around Australia and internationally, Kimberley is now Principal Psychologist at the Quirky Kid Clinic in Woollahra (Sydney) offering consultation, assessments and practical strategies for children, adolescents and families. Kimberley enjoys an active role in the Australian media and is currently the resident psychologist for the Channel 10′s Breakfast program and the official child psychologist for the parenting website ‘Essential Kids’ by Fairfax Media. She offers supervision and training for professionals as well as media comments and appearances.
In this presentation ‘Therapeutic tools and techniques for classroom and clinics": Empowering children and families to find their own solutions’, Kimberley will provide practical strategies for participants to engage and gain insight into common issues experienced by children and adolescents (aged 2-18) at home and school. Participants will also preview some upcoming resources by Quirky Kid.
Ruth Fordyce is a Psychologist who works in private practice at Alpha Psychology & The Resilience Centre in Epping, Sydney. Ruth’s areas of interest include working with children, adolescents and adults to build resilience and deal with issues such as anxiety, bullying, social skills, self-esteem, depression, and family dynamics. Ruth works primarily using strengths-based and solution focused approaches, seeking to empower clients to achieve their goals and to maintain their ongoing well-being and mental health. Ruth also has many years' experience in running workshops and seminars for parents, teachers and health professionals.
Ruth’s workshop will introduce participants to a range of St Luke’s Innovative Resources. These Australian-made creative resources are fantastic for building rapport with clients, eliciting strengths and promoting hope and optimism. The workshop will include some demonstration from Ruth, along with self-directed activities that will allow participants to engage directly with the resources and experience their creative uses. Resources appropriate to a range of age groups (children, adolescents and adults) will be covered.
