I am a member, and have taken an active role in, the Counsellors' & Psychotherapists' Association of NSW (CAPA). I engage in Clinical Supervision at an intensity greater than that required by CAPA. I hold tertiary qualifications in Counselling and Nursing.

I believe my role is to be one member of a system of supports around a person, and that when I'm no longer needed, it's time to withdraw. I like to work with the GP if needed.

12 years working as a Registered Nurse, Midwife and Neonatal Nurse. 9 years working as a Midwife, and in a Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery.

I set up and facilitated a Parent Support Group for parents of anxious children in Lake Macquarie.

3 years working in private practice as a Counsellor, specialising in Female Depression and Childhood Anxiety. I have expertise in women who have emotional problems related to childbearing. Also Childhood Anxiety Workshop presenter.

My style is eclectic, using elements of CBT, Person-Centred, Solutions, Narrative and Family Systems theories.

I believe that all people are experts in their own life. I like the analogy of walking alongside a person to help them find their own path.

My experience as a Midwife helps me to understand women more fully, and I draw on that experience a lot when I support women who have emotional issues around pregnancy, birth or afterwards.

My hours are flexible. I like to try to work in with busy families. I'm situated halfway along the Coal Point Peninsula on the high side of the road, near Toronto, west of Lake Macquarie. Plenty of parking along the road.

$80.00 per 1 hour session.

Workshop fees - price depends on many variables (location, group size etc). Call or email me to discuss your needs. Email sellam@westnet.com.au.
