Description
This book, previously known under the title 'Psychology of Ecological Crises and Eco-Self Transformation', addresses the critical observation of ecopsychologists that our current approaches to environmental change will benefit from a deep understanding of the complex emotional, psychological and sociocultural issues that underpin human behaviour.
The necessary shift from the current ego-self consciousness to an eco-self consciousness may be achieved by conceptualising ecological crises from behaviourist, cognitive, postmodern, depth psychological, holistic, psychosomatic, and transpersonal perspectives.
The approach to personal and planetary healing described here is based on an extended set of emotional, psychosocial, and environmental sustainability indicators and is informed by the theory and practice of social ecology, learning ecology, and transformative education. It focuses on practices that develop one’s transpersonal self – as a wise, responsible, able and paradoxical being. |
