Margaret's approach provides a supportive environment which facilitates clients making meaning and understanding of their experience of distress, fate in life and the pain inherent in this. From the emergence of the truths in a person's life which are experienced and thought about, support is provided to assist in seeing the freedom to choose how to cope with painful experiences and memories so as to enhance the capacity to live creatively and meaningfully. Margaret undertakes regular steps to critically review her practice and participates in ongoing professional development. The focus for this development is to better understand theories of mind, the processes which faciliate a creative enactment of human existence and a spirituality that provides the foundation for the ongoing process of becoming a human being.

Margaret has had experience spanning hospital, community and private practice settings with training in Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies. She feels comfortable working with clients across different stages in life and with varying issues, concerns and distress. The aim is to assist a client find meaning and understanding in personal distress and establish better ways to cope. The philosophical basis of Margaret's approach is the view that within a therapeutic relationship, the thoughtful mind of a theraist who is able to tune into and experience the pain within a client, is, over time, able to assist the client to experience one's pain which can then be transformed to thought and given personal meaning. There is an emphasis on the experiential nature of the therapeutic relationship from which learning, insights and the potential change can occur.
