bulletArticles & Book Reviews bulletbullet It's a guy thing!

Question:  I am worried about my lack of emotion.  When faced with a situation that I think should have an affect on me, I don't feel anything much at all.  My father passed away quite recently.  We weren't particularly close but I expected to be a little more choked up than I was.  Throughout the funeral I felt only a sort of numbness.  I usually tell myself it's a guy thing but more and more I'm wondering if I'm living my life without actually experiencing it.  Philip

Answer:  Sounds like you really want to feel more in touch with your emotional self and are ready to try something new. Psychotherapy can help reconnect us with parts of ourselves that have been neglected. Things like being kind to yourself internally, paying attention to your body, and validating the feelings that do come are a good beginning.
