| Dr Susan Kennedy established her practice at Roseville in 2007 to provide best practice psychological treatment of anxiety disorders and related concerns in children, adolescents, and adults. Anxiety disorders are one of the most common psychological problems affecting people of all ages and can cause significant distress and interference in an individual’s family, social, and work or academic life. Evidence-based psychological treatments are effective in providing a significant reduction in distressing symptoms and an improvement in quality of life. |
Membership of the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists is conditional on ongoing professional development activities such as conference and workshop attendance.
Monthly peer review and supervision sessions are also an essential component of the Roseville Practice.

Susan has over 16 years experience in hospital and community-based child and adolescent psychiatry (6 years as Director of the Child & Adolescent Anxiety Clinic at Royal North Shore Hospital), and as clinician and researcher, working with children and adults, in the Centre for Emotional Health (Anxiety Research Unit) at Macquarie University. She has supervised trainee psychologists and psychiatrists, and conducted numerous workshops on anxiety disorders. Susan’s research into anxiety prevention and treatment has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and presented at national and international conferences.
Susan was responsible for the on-site establishment of the Child and Adolescent Anxiety Clinic at the Royal Far West Children’s Health Scheme in Sydney. This clinic was developed to provide access to anxiety treatment for children and adolescents from rural and remote NSW. Susan also contributed to the development of the Cool Kids program, which is the most widely used anxiety treatment program for young people in Australia, and she co-authored the preschool-aged version.
|
Susan specialises in evidence-based treatment of anxiety, and therefore focuses on cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) with the addition of mindfulness-based CBT, interpersonal therapy, solution-focused, and schema therapy where appropriate. |
