The Sydney Child Assessment Centre was established by John Needs in 1994 with the aim of providing a specialist child and adolescent, clinical and educational psychology service in Syndey, Australia.

John Needs is a masters qualified clinically practicing psychologist specialising in Child and Adolescent Psychology. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Clinical Psychologists and was president of the Sydney branch for 7 years, a member of the Australian Psychological Society, and is a foundation member of the Australian Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback. He is a legally registered psychologist in the state of NSW.

He has appeared on free to air and pay television programs, written numerous newspaper articles and regularly speaks to school parent or staff groups.
Most patients/clients are interested in getting some change or relief quite quickly and then looking to cement longer term change that is more likely to last. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focussed therapy often assist.
